Ceresana has analyzed the global market for engineering plastics for the fourth time: Last year, 22.4 million tons of ABS, PC, PA, PMMA, POM, PBT, SAN and fluoropolymers were used. The two most important sales markets for engineering plastics are currently the electrical and electronics industry and consumer goods. However, market researchers from Ceresana predict that the third largest application area will achieve the highest growth in the coming years: the automotive industry. In contrast, application development in the construction industry will slow down, with an annual growth rate of around 2.2%. There are major differences between different types of engineering plastics. Ceresana's latest research provides data on consumption, sales, production and trade of the entire market, as well as demand for different plastics and their applications
The best-selling so-called "engineering plastic" is acrylonitrile butadiene styrene: ABS accounts for about 41% of global demand. ABS is mainly used in the automotive, electrical and electronics industries, and secondarily in the construction industry and in the household and consumer goods industries. Typical products made from ABS include car door panels, electrical housings, films, pipes and covers, and shower heads, as well as many toys, sports and leisure products.
Chapter 1 introduces and analyzes the global engineering plastics market - including forecast to 2030: explaining consumption, production and revenue in each region of the world. It also analyzes the global and regional consumption of each type of plastic, each application area, and the consumption of individual products for each application. In detail, the following types of plastics were studied: ABS, PC, PA, PMMA, POM, PBT, SAN and fluoropolymers. The application areas studied are: Automotive, Electrical and Electronics, Consumer Products, Construction, and Other Applications.
Chapter 2 examines 25 countries separately. Shows consumption, sales, production and trade of a specific country, demand for each product, demand for each application in the main sales country/region.
Chapter 3 provides company profiles of key Engineering Plastics manufacturers by contact details, revenue, profit, product range, manufacturing plants, capacity and brief profiles. Detailed information is provided by 117 engineering plastics manufacturers including 3M, BASF SE, Braskem S.A., ChemChina and China Petrochemical Corporation. (Sinopec), Covestro AG, DuPont (E.I.) De Nemours, LG Chem Ltd, LyondellBasell Industries N.V., Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC), Solvay S.A., Teijin Ltd. and Total S.A.
