In November 2019 at the international FSK symposium Polyurethane 2019 in Reutlingen near Stuttgart, the Association of Foamed Plastics and Polyurethanes e. V. awarded the prize for "Polyurethane with a high quality". (FSK) awarded the FSK Innovation Prize at its Polyurethane 2019 International Symposium. The award ceremony took place in the Stadthalle Reutlingen. The FSK Innovation Award 2019 was jointly awarded for polyurethanes and foam plastics for the first time. The awards were presented in two categories: "Design and Design" and "Technology - Processing and Chemistry".
FSK Managing Director Klaus Junginger explained that the trade association wanted to motivate young people from the industry to submit forward-looking concepts, innovative ideas and sustainable new developments in the field of polyurethanes and foam plastics with the Europe-wide invitation to tender for the annual innovation prize.
He added that at the same time junior staff should be promoted and cooperation between industrial partners and prize winners supported.
A jury of experts selected by the Fachverband Schaumkunststoffe und Polyurethane e. V. (Association of Foamed Plastics and Polyurethanes) decided on the winners. In addition to the novelty and innovative strength of the products and solutions submitted, their expected competitiveness and marketability were also evaluation criteria. In addition, their material-specific implementation and technical feasibility played an important role. In order to ensure a fair and appropriate assessment and award according to knowledge and experience, the members of the jury judged submissions from junior staff as well as specialists, professionals and companies separately. In 2019, the expert jury decided to award a total of five prizes. Four of them were awarded in the category "Technology - Processing and Chemistry". Within this category, two awards were presented to specialists, companies and professionals. The other two awards in the category went to young professionals in the industry.
