Starting immediately, companies can apply for the German Sustainability Award until 30 April 2020. The Gesamtverband Kunststoff verarbeitende Industrie e. V. (German Association of Plastics Processing Industry) is once again the institutional partner of the German Sustainability Award (GKV).

For the first time, the companies are being honoured in six transformation fields: 

• Biodiversity
• Climate
• Fairness
• Company
• Resources 
• Digitization

The fields of transformation are derived from the United Nations' Agenda 2030 and the German government's sustainability strategy. We are looking for applicants and actors from the business community (from corporate groups to SMEs and micro-enterprises) who make effective contributions to transformation with innovative products or special social commitment in their value-added industry. We are convinced that the design of components made of plastics and thermoplastics in general can also achieve great success in the long term. 

For the first time this year, the German Sustainability Award Design will also be presented. Here, companies and designers are challenged to provide the right answers with their products and services. Sustainable design will play a central role in the future. It provides ecologically and socially meaningful solutions without neglecting design quality and gives its users the opportunity to make their own contributions to sustainability. With this in mind, the new German Sustainability Award for Design honours the best products, services and systems from all areas. The prize aims to make sustainable design recognisable to consumers, thereby making it more successful and effective.
